Visit at the Open Innovation Centre for Well Technology

Our Chief Geoscientist, Coen Leo, has recently visited the Open Innovation Centre for Well Technology in Rijswijk, the Netherlands.

The open innvovation lab was initially built by Shell and has now been transferred to a consortium of knowledge partners TNO, TU Delft, Utrecht University and EBN as initiators. Public authority participants are the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, the Province of Zuid-Holland and the Municipality of Rijswijk.

There are only a few open centers in the world available for the industry to test equipment or procedures.

The facilities in Rijswijk are fully equipped with a drilling rig, two boreholes, pressurising equipment and lifting equipment to test drilling equipment, tools and materials under pressure and high temperatures in different mud fluids and real operational conditions. Coen was impressed by the state of the art technique and simulation opportunities and mentions that PanTerra is especially interested in the program line for improvement of reservoir stimulation techniques.

The open innovation centre welcomes any Company or  knowledge center interested in using  the facilities in the lab.
