We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting a four-day Advanced Petrophysics Course, which will be given by Peter Betts. Peter has a long career in Petrophysics and provides Petrophysics training and consultancy worldwide.
Several of our staff will attend the course, and we wish to welcome participants from our industry partners to join us.
Peter is a fully seasoned and experienced petrophysicists with an international background and wide knowledge of the oil and gas exploration business. His petrophysical expertise covers all aspects of shaly sand evaluation, complex carbonates and mixed lithology probabilistic analysis techniques, capillary pressure analysis, and cased hole interpretation.
Date: 24 -27 February 2020
Location: Weversbaan 1-3, Leiderdorp
Fee: 1600 Euro
The course is suitable for participants who wish to gain insight into petrophysical analysis methods. Such participants should be familiar with basic petrophysical principles and will typically have 5 years or more working experience in a geoscience or reservoir engineering function.
Day 1 – The role of petrophysics in exploration & production Review of petrophysical principles. Quick look evaluation methods and saturation determination Wireline formation testing
Day 2 – Basic and special core analysis methods Clastic reservoir geology and clay types
Shaly sand analysis for effective porosity systems using Archie, Simandoux and Indonesian equations. Shaly sand analysis for total porosity systems using Waxman Smits equation Cut-off criteria.
Day 3 – Dual Water model and Juhasz normalised Qv method Hydrocarbon differentiation in shaly sands Evaluation of laminated shaly sands. Carbonate deposition models and interpretation challenges Probabilistic methods for the analysis of complex formations.
Day 4 – Capillary pressure. Saturation height functions. Capillary pressure and reservoir simulation. Permeability prediction (including NMR logging) and statistical considerations. Uncertainty ranges.
